Né à Lucques, en Italie, Fabio Giomi a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat en histoire en 2011, en cotutelle à l’Université de Bologne et à l’EHESS. Avant d’intégrer le CETOBaC en tant que chercheur du CNRS en 2014, il a été boursier postdoctoral de la Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (Paris) et de l’Institute for Advanced Study de la Central European University (Budapest). Ses recherches portent sur l’histoire de l’Europe du Sud-Est entre la fin du XIXe et la moitié du XXe siècle, avec une attention particulière pour l’espace yougoslave. Il s’intéresse en particulier à l’histoire du fait associatif et des mouvements sociaux, à l’histoire des femmes et du genre ainsi qu’à l’histoire des musulmans des Balkans et à l’histoire transnationale. Depuis 2012 il co-anime plusieurs cycles de séminaires à l’EHESS.

Born in Lucca, Italy, Fabio Giomi obtained his PhD in 2011 at the University of Bologna and at the EHESS. Former post-doctoral fellow of the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (Paris) and Institute for Advanced Study-Central European University (Budapest), he is CNRS researcher at CETOBaC since 2014. His research focuses on the social and cultural history of Southeastern Europe between the late-19th and mid-20th centuries, with a special focus on the Yugoslav region. Among his current research topics are voluntary associations and social movements, women and gender history, Balkan Muslims, transnational studies. Since 2012 he organizes several seminar cycles at the EHESS.
