Biographie courte

Diplômée de l'Université de Marmara, Département des Sciences Politiques et Administratives en 1994, elle a obtenu sa maîtrise en sociologie à l'École des hautes études de Paris (EHESS) en 1996 et son doctorat en sociologie en 2001 dans la même institution. Sa thèse intitulée « La reconstruction de l'espace public laïc par les jeunes kémalistes et islamistes » portait sur les membres des fondations islamiques et des associations kémalistes des années 90. Elle a réalisé un projet de recherche postdoctorale au Center for Middle Eastern Studies de l'Université de Harvard en 2006 sur l'identité sexuelle des femmes voilées et la reconstruction du Mahrem islamique par les femmes islamistes. Elle a contribué à de nombreux projets de recherche comparative sur la sphère publique, l'islam et les études sur les femmes. Alors qu'elle travaillait comme Maîtresse des Conférences à l'Université de Galatasaray, elle a démissionné en 2018 après avoir signé la pétition pour la paix en 2016 et est venu en France pour poursuivre sa carrière. Elle a travaillé comme chercheuse et a enseigné à l'Université de Bordeaux, à l'Institut des Études Avancées de Paris (chercheuse Eurias) (https://www.paris-iea.fr/fr/liste-des-residents/buket-turkmen) et à l'Université Paris Nanterre. Dans ce processus, elle s'est vu attribuer le titre de professeur avec la discrétion du Conseil national interuniversitaire de France. Depuis 2018, elle est membre du comité de rédaction de la revue Cahiers du Cedref, qui est affiliée au laboratoire CEDREF Études Genre (Université Paris VII) en France (https://journals.openedition.org/cedref/35). Elle a été membre du Groupe de travail sur les mouvements sociaux à l'ère de la mondialisation au Collège d'Études mondiales (https://www.fmsh.fr/fr/projets-soutenus/mouvements-sociaux-a-lage-global), et membre du 47^e comité de recherche du Association internationale de sociologie. Elle travaille actuellement comme chercheuse associée au Centre Émile Durkheim (Bordeaux) et au Centre d'Études Turques, Ottomanes, Balkaniques et Centrasiatiques (CETOBaC).

Graduated from the University of Marmara, Department of Political and Administrative Sciences in 1994, she obtained her master's degree in Sociology in 1996 and her PhD in Sociology in 2001 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes de Paris (EHESS). Her thesis entitled "The reconstruction of secular public space by young Kemalists and Islamists" focused on members of Islamic foundations and Kemalist associations. She carried out a postdoctoral research project at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies of the Harvard University in 2006 on the "Sexual identity of veiled women and the reconstruction of Islamic Mahrem". She has contributed to numerous comparative research projects on the public sphere, Islam and women's studies. Her articles on the Gezi Revolt and women, secularism, public space, youth, Islamic and secular foundations in Turkey have been published in French (https://www.cairn.info/resultats_recherche.php?searchTerm= Buket+turkmen), English and Turkish (https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=Buket+Turkmen&btnG=). While working as an associate professor at the Galatasaray University, she resigned in 2018 after signing the peace petition in 2016 and came to France to pursue her career. She worked at the University of Bordeaux, at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Paris (Eurias researcher) (https://www.paris-iea.fr/fr/liste-des-residents/buket -turkmen) and at the University of Paris Nanterre. In this process, she was awarded the title of professor with the discretion of the National Interuniversity Council of France. Since 2018, she has been a member of the editorial board of the journal "Cahiers du Cedref", which is affiliated to the CEDREF Etudes Genre laboratory (Paris VII University) in France (https://journals.openedition.org/cedref/35). She was the member of the Working Group on Social Movements in the Age of Globalization at the College of World Studies (https://www.fmsh.fr/fr/projets-souttenus/mouvements-sociaux-a-lage- global), and of the 47^th Research Committee of the International Sociological Association. She currently works as an associate researcher at the Emile Durkheim Center (Bordeaux) and at the Center for Turkish, Ottoman, Balkan and Central Asian Studies (CETOBaC).
