Wendy Ramadan-Alban graduated from the Political Institute of Lille (2009). In 2022, she defended her PHD in political sciences. Her project was supervised by Thierry Balzacq (University of Namur and Sciences Po Paris) and Stéphane Dudoignon (CNRS/EPHE-GSRL) within the framework of an international co-supervision between the EHESS (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales) and the University of Namur. She is also graduated with an “advanced level” certificate in Persian language from the Dehkhodâ Institute based in Tehran where she studied for one year (2011-2012). In her thesis, headed “The grand strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran: the negotiations relating to the Iranian nuclear programme (2003-2015)”, she explores the structural dimension of Iran’s policies. Through her case study, she demonstrates how the political elites of the Islamic Republic of Iran have inherited from the past a “collective repertoire of action”—a concept she borrows from Charles Tilly and applies to the State unit-level. This repertoire constrains the elite in the way of thinking of and practicing Iran’s grand strategy.
